A little smile here, a text message that says thank you there, can make a whole lot of difference. Everyone loves a little encouragement and appreciation. Let’s remember pastors are flesh and blood like us with emotions, with needs and burdens of their own, yet they gladly add ours to theirs. It is a great sacrifice! They have to get it right every time, subject to criticism all the time, how we easily assume they are beyond humanity and don’t appreciate what they do.
It is a great opportunity to give back to these awesome people; that are always there with listening ears, sharing our pains and joys and bearing our burdens before the Lord.
In 1 Timothy, Apostle Paul wrote, ‘The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honour, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching’ (1 Tim. 5:17). And, in 1 Thessalonians, he said, ‘Respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work’ (1 Thess. 5:12-13).

Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you. (Hebrews 13:17).
